Touch and control: the NikeSkin upper

The Nike Phantom 6 Academy uses a synthetic upper with a NikeSkin touch zone built on engineered mesh. The textured surface is meant to bring your foot closer to the ball, with better control when dribbling and passing in both wet and dry conditions.

Traction: Cyclone 360 in the forefoot

The Cyclone 360 circular traction pattern sits in the forefoot, where you plant and push off. It is there to help you turn quickly and accelerate smoothly, which suits attackers and creative players who change direction a lot.

Which soleplate to choose

Academy comes in more soleplates than just FG and MG, so this is the choice to get right. FG/MG and MG versions are designed for both natural and artificial grass. SG (soft ground) is for soft, wet natural pitches, and the Anti-Clog version is designed to stop mud from sticking to the soleplate. TF (turf) is for hard turf surfaces, and IC is for indoor courts. Fit and collar

The Nike Phantom 6 shoe frame is built for a more natural fit, especially around the toe box, and the sockliner is cushioned. Low-cut versions leave the ankle open. The high versions add a Dynamic Fit collar that wraps the ankle for a more locked-in feel, so think about whether you want that sensation before you commit.
