adidas are celebrating Lionel Messi’s incredible football journey with a new Limited Edition football boot: the adidas F50 Messi Futbol y Familia.
The special-edition F50 looks back at Messi’s roots in Argentina, his family and the early years that helped shape one of the greatest football careers of all time.

Futbol y Familia
The name says it all.
Futbol y Familia is built around two things that have always been central to Messi’s story: football and family.
The Limited Edition colourway combines red, white and black, colours closely associated with Messi’s first club in Argentina, Newell’s Old Boys, where his football journey began before his move to Barcelona.
The design is completed with personal Messi details throughout. His logo sits prominently on the lace cover, while “Messi” is featured directly on the soleplate.
Across the upper, a secondary graphic made up of Messi logos adds another layer to the design and connects the boot even more closely to Leo himself.
Inspired by an iconic F50 era
Futbol y Familia does not only look back at Messi’s story. It also looks back at one of the most recognisable periods in adidas football boot history.
The design takes inspiration from the F50 generation of the 2000s, particularly the F50.6 TUNIT era and its unmistakable lace-cover construction.
For long-time football boot fans, it creates an immediate sense of nostalgia. For a new generation, it brings one of adidas’ most iconic design languages back into a modern Messi signature boot.
It is a fitting connection. Messi made his name wearing some of the most memorable F50 boots of that era, and Futbol y Familia brings that heritage into the present.
A different kind of F50
Tech-wise, the Futbol y Familia is closely related to Messi’s previous signature boot rather than the standard adidas F50 Hyperfast.
One of the biggest differences is the Lace Cover+.
The Hybridtouch+ lace cover sits above a traditional laced closure and uses a velcro fastening system, creating a larger and cleaner striking surface while maintaining a secure fit underneath.
The rest of the upper is also made from Hybridtouch+ – a refined version of the material closely associated with Messi. It is designed to offer a soft, premium feel while keeping the upper comfortable and responsive around the foot.
The upper is supported by Halocage+, a strategically positioned TPU layer designed to provide additional stability during explosive cuts and rapid changes of direction.
Underfoot, the boot uses the F50 Speedsystem+ soleplate, the same outsole found on the current F50 Hyperfast.
